July 25:
A mock graveyard across the street from the United Nations in New York represents those who are killed by arms every day around the world.
Control Arms, an action group, set up the display to draw attention to the fact that the U.N. is continuing to negotiate a new Arms Trade Treaty.
(Photo: Spencer Platt, Getty Images)Just 2,000? Actually, that’s good seeing as civilization cannot go 20 minutes without waging war. Really. There are less than 20 minutes of time in recorded history where there wasn’t a single war going down somewhere.
That and that’s still an absurdly small amount of guns in existence being used with ill intent, and fewer still that are legally possessed.
And then there’s the fact that firearms are used in defense far more than to commit a crime.
tldr eat a dick.
